02 History of Oz in Musicals, We all know about “The Wizard Of Oz”, but how many of you know that there are many, many musicals based on the Oz books? And the Judy Garland film wasn’t even the first. In this special, Nathan discusses as many of the Oz musicals as he can squeeze in as well as playing some of the songs from each.

 

03 The Northern Star, Mel C is probably best known for being Sporty Spice in the massively successful girl group of the 90’s “The Spice Girls”, but more recently she has had just as much success in her solo career and also her move into musical theatre.

 

04 The Curse of Carrie White, Nathan talks about the many incantations of the Stephen King story of “Carrie” in film and television and stage, from the 1970’s cult classic movie with Sissy Spacek to the more obscure musical and the TV pilot.

 

05 The songs of Star Wars, In the “Star Wars” films there has always been a musical presence, from the alien pop-groups seen in the space bars to the showtunes that were sung in the cheesy television Christmas special, Nathan brings you a selection of some of the best (and not so good) tracks from the franchise.

 

06 Sampling Showtunes, It seems that a great number of commercial pop songs “borrow” or sample melodies and lyrics from showtunes from musical theatre, Nathan plays a selection of the more well-known releases and discusses the shows they were originally from.

 

07 Sharks and Deadites, In this Horror themed double, Nathan talks about the five (Yes FIVE) “Jaws” movies as well as the stage musicals based on them and also the “Evil Dead” trilogy and the stage musical based on those. Nathan was lucky enough to get to see the Warrington premier of “Evil Dead: The Musical” and had chance to talk to some of the audience members after the performance.

 

08 Robin Williams, Even though he is better known for his more comedic roles, Nathan has managed to delve deep into the Robin Williams back-catalogue to bring you some of his musical ventures throughout the years. From being the first live-action Popeye to working with Disney.

 

09 Tombs and Adventure, Who doesn’t want to be like Indiana Jones when they grow up? With four movies and a series of TV specials and serials, the “Indiana Jones” franchise has spanned decades. Nathan talks about each entry as well as playing a selection of the movie’s unforgettable soundtrack.

 

10 Lost Musical Numbers, Throughout the years there have been many songs that get dropped, in this episode Nathan plays a selection of the unknown tracks from the well-known shows that just didn’t make the final production.

 

11 Musical Meryl, Meryl Streep is a multi-award winning actress who has starred in some fantastic movies over the years. She also has an amazing singing voice and in this episode, Nathan plays a selection of some of her musical entries from a wide selection of productions. 12 Dead wives and Dinosaur parks A two-part show, the first half discusses the classic comedy “Blithe Spirit” with mention of the stage musical version and the motion picture starring Rex Harrison as well as giving a brief backstory to how the play came about. In the second half, Nathan talks about the “Jurassic Park” films
